News & Notes

Beginning in the Fall of 2008, the Smithville Soccer Club will move their U7 and up Recreational program to the KC Metro League. Our Under6/Fun Soccer and our Academy will remain in Smithville.

We believe that by making this move to the Metro League, kids and parents will have a greater opportunity to play in better venues and see a wider range of play. By doing this, our registration deadlines had to change to meet the new league's requirements. We regret that this transition may have caught parents off guard, but we hope to add many more teams in the Spring as Spring Registration will begin in October.

UPCOMING CHANGES
Over the next couple of weeks, you will begin to see changes in our website. We will be adding features to make it easier to navigate and obtain the information you need to have as SSC begins its transition into the new league.

COACHING CLINIC
The Smithville Soccer Club is bringing Darren Vine, U-14 academy coach at Sheffield United, in to conduct a coaching clinic on August 16, 10:00 - 12:30. The session will be held at Smithville High School.

Vine has an extensive background as both a player and a coach. He first joined Sheffield United as a coach in July 1996 after being a player at the club for the previous three years. Vine holds a UEFA ‘B’ License as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.

The club is inviting other area coaches to the clinic. To help cover some of the costs, we're asking for a $10 fee to be paid at the clinic.

CALLING ALL CREATIVE PARENTS
We are looking for volunteers to help build/decorate floats for the club to be entered in the Homecoming Parade and Octoberfest Parade. If you are interested please email either Christy at cacurry25@aol.com or Della at bcaseplace@aol.com

FYI

Our recreational teams will play in the Recreational or C divisions.

Our competitive Smithville United Select teams will play in the A or B divisions.
